Hopkins Wire Chip Shovel
A wire chip shovel is a commercial serving utensil used in fish-and-chip shops, fast-food outlets, and catering kitchens to scoop, lift, and serve fried chips (fries) directly from fryers. It’s called a shovel because of its wide, flat design, and it’s made from wire mesh, which allows excess oil to drain away. Common uses Scooping large amounts of chips from deep fryers or holding bins. Draining excess oil before serving or transferring to warming trays. Handling other fried foods (like battered fish, onion rings, or fritters) in high-volume operations. Speeding up service in busy chip shops by moving large portions at once.
